| Toyota's new city car, the Aygo, attracts a group 1 rating across the board. Is it really that low an insurance risk? | |
| We believe the answer to our question is yes. Toyota have made tremendous efforts with the Aygo to ensure that should it be damaged, then repair costs will be as low as possible and this no doubt helps keep insurance costs to a minimum. | | | If you're in the market for an economical car that's cheap to insure and yet still quite nippy to drive, then the Aygo has to be on your list. And if the Aygo doesn't provide enough space for your needs then the 1 litre Yaris Ion is an alternative option. However, whilst all models of the Aygo currently attract group 1 insurance, the larger Yari attract groups of 2, 3 and 4 depending on engine size and trim level. And the Yaris of course is a slightly heavier car than the tiny Aygo, so don't expect the 1.0 litre to be quite as quick as the Aygo. | | | Experienced drivers with a good no claims discount should note that in pounds, the extra cost of insuring a 1.4 Yaris T3 (group 3 or 4) compared to the Aygo will be minimal. However, for those on a tight budget, or those with claims, convictions or simply little driving experience, the Aygo is a delightful proposition. And you'll save in other ways as the Aygo only ever sips at its fuel. | |
