Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo started life in 1907 as a co-operation between the French automobile maker Darracq and Cavaliere Ugo Stella, and originally its name was Darracq Itaaliana.
The current name began to take shape when the company was renamed ALFA (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili) and was then completed in 1920 when the Romeo was added (after Nicola Romeo who was in charge of the company at that time).
Over the years, the company has had an incredibly rich sporting heritage, with Enzo Ferarri having been one of its most famous drivers. Today, under the ownership of FIAT since 1986 following financial difficulties, the company is still highly regarded as a manufacturer of 'drivers cars'.
Alfa Romeo currently has about 80 dealerships in the UK. Recently Alfa redirected much of their advertising budget into the development of an exciting new coupe, the 8C, which was premiered at the 2006 Paris Motorshow. Motoring enthusiasts are raving about the new model which is surely one of the most beautiful cars available today. No doubt the massive publicity the company will receive from the launch of such a fantastic car will be far more valuable than the 'advertising money' that was spent on its development.
