New Cars 2007

Most of the major manufacturers have new models to look out for in 2007, including a number of completely new cars, and of course a number of updates to existing models. Please let us know if you're aware of a new car for 2007 that we haven't listed here.
As manufacturers get even better at building more different cars on the same platform, they're producing more and more variants of their vehicles. It seems every manufacturer wants to appeal to as broad a range of buyers as possible, so rather than target a particular niche they're making sure that they cover as many options as possible with each new platform.
Also, as the manufacturers merge, or enter into technology sharing agreements, it's much easier for them to produce variations of another manufacturer's model with different badges. Of course this has been happening since the dawn of the motor industry, it's simply being practiced on a much bigger scale in recent years.
This year, Citroen will be expanding their C2 in order to make a car that's a little more spacious than the C2 itself, but probably slightly more compact than the C3; and the name? the C2 Plus of course. Meanwhile, Fiat are introducing a 4x4 version of their Grande Punto, and Honda are expected to deliver a MPV version of the highly respected Jazz.
Ford will be following last this year's release of a new Focus, with a new Mondeo in 2007. Like so many other new models, this car shares a platform with other cars in the Ford empire, and in fact that platform is a variation on the new Focus one.
Kia are another who will introduce a mini MPV, whilst Nissan will be releasing their new city car.
2007 is a major year for Toyota, as not only will they be replacing a replacement for the Corolla, in a shock move, the new model will dispense with the Corolla badge after 40 years. February 2007 is the expected launch date for the new model. Toyota are also believed to have another mini SUV in the pipeline; no doubt the success of the RAV4 has encouraged them to play the smaller SUV card again. It certainly worked last time, though we notice that the latest RAV4 has grown slightly, presumably to position it somewhere between the new Rush SUV and the huge Land Cruiser. And outside of the UK Toyota have plans for some other exciting vehicles, though it's unlikely we'll see these being directly imported to these shores.
At Vauxhall, another new Agila will appear, based on the new Suzuki MR Wagon platform.

The New Ford Puma

The last time Ford updated the Fiesta platform they chose not to build a Puma variant, so the incredibly popular little coupe was dropped from the range. However, the great news is that a new Fiesta is due in 2008, and this time the platform is expected to form the basis of a new Puma.

Ford Mondeo 2007

Ford's Mondeo gets a major update in 2007 and of course this is a huge event for the company. We're expecting the new car to be the new star of the Ford range, as the company can afford to take no chances with this best selling model.

New Lancias for 2007

There is some expectation that Lancia will produce a production version of its stunning Fulvia concept in 2007, though this may be wishful thinking. A new Lancia Delta is a more likely proposition.

Nissan Qashqai

Nissan's new five seat SUV is expected to hit the UK streets early in 2007. It seems the British public can't get enough of SUVs these days, so the new Nissan, with prices starting from £15,000, will almost certainly be a big success.

Peugeot 207CC

Peugeot's new 207 was launched this summer after being shown to the public for the first time at the 2006 Geneva Motor show. The 206 and it's Citroen stablemate the Saxo were tremendously important cars for Peugeot Citroen, so how does the new 207 compare with the outgoing model?

Vauxhall have been releasing some exciting new cars over the last few years, and the trend looks set to continue with the cars they are about to release. We particularly like the look of the new large vehicle they have in the pipeline - the FLV.
