Group Social Evening - Tuesday 3rd July 2012 Group Walk by Derek Osbourne

Thanks to everyone who attended this gentle walk through Sookholme and Warsop Vale organised by Derek Osbourne. Thanks particularly to Derek for organising a number of route options so that we could still hold this walk, despite the problems this summer's weather has caused.

We started at 6.45pm from The Carrs carpark found in front of Church Warsop`s church, and as always Derek had organised some great weather for us; OK it wasn't quite up to his usual standards, and the threat of rain was always in the air, but by recent standards it was a lovely dry evening.

The Carrs is a good starting point for walks in this area. To find it, take the A60 out of Warsop towards Worksop, the Carrs is on the left with the river Meden running through it, the old flour mill is on the right and 10 yards on the left turn into the car park.

We highly recommend sensible footwear as it can be very muddy; although everyone was suitably attired, our route had to be amended to take account of conditions underfoot as, like everywhere this year, some trails in the area are very muddy thanks to the almost never ending rain.
